How To Drop Weapon In Killing Floor 2

Killing Floor 2 dropped the Dystopian Devastation update today, adding a new map, cosmetics, and weapons to the long-running shooter. The update is now available for free on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Tripwire Interactive first launched Killing Floor 2 back in 2016 but has kept the community active with various content drops and updates over the years. Today's update is one of the largest in recent memory – the previous update launched last holiday season, bringing the new Elysium map.

Here's some of what you'll find in the Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation update:

  • Dystopia 2029 Map: A new community map that sees you slaughtering zeds under neon lights in the seedy city streets. Tripwire said you can "appreciate Dystopia 2029's bleak futuristic style in standard survival, weekly, and endless game modes."
  • Gravity Imploder Weapon: Blast canisters at zeds to implode their heads - or use the alternative fire to draw them closer.
  • Beluga Beat Weapon: A gun for sharpshooters that "shreds sonically," with the option to charge up a shot to destroy with greater decibels.
  • New Cosmetics: Futuristic new cosmetics include hats, masks, backpacks, and more.

Tripwire is marking the launch of Dystopian Devastation with a sale across all platforms, with more info about the specific discounts coming soon.

"In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech's failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union," Tripwire said of its game.

"Just one month after the events in the original Killing Floor, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding."

This latest update looks to expand on that storyline, bringing more weapons, more cosmetics, and more chaos to the already frantic shooter. The aging title might be past its peak – Killing Floor 2 once pulled in nearly 70,000 concurrent players – but Tripwire is hopeful the Dystopian Devastation update brings back some of its dormant community.

Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
